I’m excited to share our first draft of Sentient Sanctuary Lesson Plans. The purpose is to help children to grow empathy and compassion for animals (and for one another).

We are working with a local public elementary school to test and refine. A fifth grade class will study one lesson per week for five weeks, and then visit Sentient Sanctuary.

If you’re an elementary school teacher, please try our lesson plans. We want more folks to teach this topic, and we’d love your feedback, so we can make improvements.

And if you’re not a teacher but would like to get involved, we also offer goat walks and farm yoga at the sanctuary and host Animal Book Club at Botanical in Charlottesville.
