In Intertwingled I encourage people to get outside their comfort zones. I’m about to take my own advice. Next week, assuming I survive Saturday’s triathlon, I plan to hike the Grand Canyon rim to rim trail in a single day from South to North. After a day of rest, I’ll hike back, North to South. It’s a 23 mile trek with a 1 mile vertical climb, and it’s not exactly sanctioned by the National Park Service.
Under no circumstances should you attempt to hike from the rim to the river and back in one day!
It may be hot. There may be rattlesnakes and lightning. But it’s a grand challenge, and I’ve trained hard, and I can’t think of a better way of making myself uncomfortable.
